Reaching SwimSafer Stage 4 Bronze
Stage 4, also called SwimSafer Bronze, is the fourth stage of SwimSafer 2.0. It is for learners who have passed Stage 3 or can swim 50m comfortably, and it moves the focus from learning strokes to swimming them continuously and handling survival situations.
Bronze asks for a continuous 100m swim using four strokes (front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and survival backstroke), a compact jump into deep water followed by a forward somersault, treading water for 2 minutes, a feet-first surface dive in 1.4m water, and 3 minutes of survival swimming in clothes followed by a throw-rescue scenario. The full test sequence is listed further down this page.
What is important?
- Water Safety Awareness
- Comfort in Water
- Floating and Buoyancy
- Breath Control and Blowing Bubbles
- Kicking and Arm Movements
- Water Play and Games
SwimSafer Singapore's Stage 4 Bronze
Bronze preparation needs a deep pool and enough lane space to swim 100m without stopping, so a full-size competition or training pool at a public swimming complex is usually the best choice.
Lanes are busier on weekends and school holidays. Check our town guides for each complex's pools and weekly closure day, and consider weekday time slots if you want more space.

The SwimSafer Singapore Difference
Learners most often need extra practice with the 2-minute tread, the forward somersault after a compact jump, and switching smoothly between survival strokes every 15m in clothes.
To arrange preparation lessons, tell us the learner's age, the highest SwimSafer stage passed and which swimming complex is most convenient. Lesson fees are listed on our fees page; pool entry is paid separately at the venue.
