SwimSafer Preparation and Official Assessment Process
Official SwimSafer assessments follow the current CAMS process. Registration must be completed through the official system, assessment readiness requires validation, and certification depends on successfully completing the applicable practical assessment and theory quiz.
For private assessments, participants use the Singapore Aquatics CAMS platform. The official theory quiz is made available through the applicable process, and certificates are retrieved through the official system only after all required components are completed successfully.
Understanding SwimSafer: A Comprehensive Overview
SwimSafer is structured in stages. Each stage has a defined set of swimming and water-survival skills that a learner must show in an assessment. The stage pages on this site list what each stage covers, so you can see what your child is working towards.
1. SwimSafer’s Mission: Promoting Water Safety Education
SwimSafer focuses on staying safe in water, not only on swimming strokes. Skills such as floating, treading water, entering and leaving the water safely and getting back to safety are taught alongside swimming distance.
2. Key Components of the SwimSafer Program

3. Evolution of ActiveSG SwimSafer

4. Implementing SwimSafer Singapore in Community Settings
Many children first meet SwimSafer through school swimming programmes. Private SwimSafer lessons are commonly held at public swimming complexes. When choosing a pool, consider travel time, the pool’s weekly closure day, and whether it has a shallow teaching pool for the early stages.
5. Assessing Progress and Achievement
